Validating Thermal Protection Before a Space-Shot Launch

Researchers with the University of Southern California Rocket Propulsion Lab are in an unofficial space race with other international universities—each hoping to be the first to successfully launch a rocket made from team-produced components into space. Testing components on the ground is essential to their project, but some of the data they need can’t be collected using traditional methods such as thermocouples.
